Feature request: Static items

Bug #1444941 reported by Thomas Güttler on 2015-04-16

Bug Description

Feature request:

It would be great, if diodon could insert templates you often need to insert.

In my context I often want to insert my ssh public key into the .ssh/authorized_keys file.

Opening the file with (eg) vi is no problem. Then I want to insert the long public ssh key.

Next use case:

If I write mails to customers I often add something like this at the end:

"Please feel free to contact me if you need any further information."

Since I have several apps to use communication (web, thunderbird, ...) it would be nice solve this
at desktop level instead of configuring the template in each app.

Please let me know if you think an other app is better suited for this.

This has been also suggested in the blueprint for ideas for plugins see here https://blueprints.launchpad.net/diodon/+spec/ideas-for-plugins there called static items.

Changed in diodon:
status: New → Triaged
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
summary: - Feature request: Allow insert of templates
+ Feature request: Static items

I looked at the blue print.

It contains "dead" information:

Ubuntu One Integration:
Syncing clipboard history with Ubuntu One

Since Ubuntu One is not active any more, this should be deleted.

How to get items from this blue print done?

Not really dead information I have updated the blueprint to clarify what it means.

The plugin API is open to everyone and the blueprint is a source for developers to get ideas how to contribute to Diodon - see for instance here https://github.com/RedHatter/diodon-plugins

As a core team if we find the time we will also implement plugins but we have limited resources and focus on the core - in the end do we need more developers to get those plugins written and I encourage everyone to contribute.

Which "core team" are you talking about?
