Dialer app crashes during calls

Bug Description
Whenever I try to call someone, or I answer a call, the dialer app crashes.
Normally, the app should display icons for "mute", "speakers", "numberpad" etc. However, it only displays the big red cancel button which is not working.
The only way to cancel a call, or use the icons, is by shutting down the dialer app, and open it again from the green top bar.
