Bug Description

It would be very useful to allow enabling comments on pages in developer.ubuntu.com, such as the ones used to display tutorials.

Right now the Wordpress template we're using does not offer that option, but after doing some quick research it seems it might be relatively trivial to enable them on selected pages. E.g. adding something along the lines of <?php comments_template(); ?> to the template.

I may be missing something here, but I don't see that people can now add comments to tutorials pages. I am also not sure whether it is a good idea, on balance.

For comparison purposes, I checked android and iOS developer sites [1] and I don't see the ability to add comments to their tutorials either.
I am not sure whether comments are actually that useful. If the tutorials and other pages are incorrect or incomplete, bugs should be filed against them.

Other sites seem more appropriate for comments/discussion (askubuntu.com, http://discourse.ubuntu.com/).

Adding comments also introduces the issue that when pages are deleted, all the comments associated with them would be too.

Comments can introduce incorrect technical information (and irrelevant information) that might confuse people.

Comments seem very appropriate for discussion of open issues (news, designing new things, etc.). But this site conveys information that should be correct and complete for its purpose (else bugs).

I agree: I'm not sure this is a good idea.

The content of an article can change and be updated. Comments will stay around forever. With the possibility to file bugs per page, I think we should be well-covered.

There's other discussion forums (askubuntu, discourse, IRC, the mailing lists), where all of the commentary can happen.

Can we re-evaluate this together?
