This is a critical issue and a regression on the site-- we don't seem to have anything that we can point people to that describes the FHS in detail any more.

@daniel, that seems to be the wrong document to import, the original filesystem layout doc was never an md or rst doc, it came from drive https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NdBgQXfuJWBOYT-iceTgagavE2r44dUs822gfAM9Srw/edit
