Have you considered changing the filter option? The latest release should enable you to select the “supported” file types yourself.
DesktopNova doesn’t need to read the image file. As long as the backend supports the file type you can add any file extension you want.
The software should also not crash. If the backend can’t process the image, it will display an solid filled background instead of an wallpaper.
