Bug Description

After installing desktop switcher and using it once, going back to netbook shows a thin white line to the right side of the window picker applet. See screenshot:

This persists despite changes in the size of the window picker, and more icons appearing on the left and in the systray.

It also persists over a reboot (and without having used the desktop switcher since).

Fixed (for me, for now) by using gconf-editor to remove the fast-user-switch-applet from the top panel.

I've run into this during initial testing with the switcher, where the fast-user-switching applet is not being removed from the panel. However, I haven't come across it for quite some and couldn't reproduce frequently.

Does this happen everytime you use the desktop-switcher to go from Classic->Netbook mode?

I just tried it again - and yes, the line is back. Also this time (not the first time) it didn't remove the extra panel applets. See screenshot...

addendum: Right after taking that screenshot and sending the comment I did a "remove from panel" on the main menu applet, meaning to go on and remove the launchers too, and the quit launcher, and take out the user switcher in gconf-editor ... but removing the main menu applet removed everything else that shouldn't have been there and put my panel back to what it should be in netbook remix. (weird?)

I think this is to do with the way we switch the panel configuration, gconf doesn't always merge the changed properly, and that leaves gnome-panel in an "in-between" state.

I've been informed of another way to implement the config switching which doesn't involve changing gconf in a huge way, and should solve this problem. I'm working on rewriting desktop-switcher to accommodate this change.
