dashboard record creation should only prompt for left-most label

Bug Description

(This is a usability concern, and technically could be considered a matter of opinion.)

When creating a new record, it would be nice to only prompt users for the left most label. So a user could provide the label "www" to be appended with ".mydomain.myemployer.com." to create the record "www.mydomain.myemployer.com.". If users wanted to get fancy, they could provide a left side label with multiple parts like "us-west.www" for "us-west.www.mydomain.myemployer.com.".
