yes, i think the tag should be the same as the tag used for other deriver directives related to processing books, based on a text's flavor! e.g. the DERIVER_TEXT_DIRECTIVE(s) could be an enumerated list, e.g. "book, newspaper, journal, microfilm, microfilm-newspaper" and so on.

the deriver directive selected (by humans or computers) could be added to the _meta.xml in a new tag, possibly as suggested by Raj in Bug #175753 in Deriver, i.e. "<texttype/>".

i think the _meta.xml tag "texttype" is fine, but it's a bit bland, maybe "text_flavor" ... ?
