[Hardy][Inspiron 1525] No sound through built-in speakers or headphone jacks

No sound through built-in speakers or headphone jacks on Inspiron 1525. Already checked (raised volume and unmuted) alsamixer settings.

however, compiling/installing the new alsa drivers from the "alsa-source" package fixes the problem.

looks like the kernel drivers are too old

This is the particular fix that is necessary to fix audio on the Inspiron 1525.

Hi,

It's not fixed in HARDY.
After a clean upgrade yesterday, sound was not anymore working.

Computer could not detect my Inspiron 1525 sound card.

I had to compile/install the new alsa drivers from the "alsa-source" package fixes the problem.

I did follow instructrions there :
