Bug Description

After upgrading to 13.10 (kernel 3.11.0-12-generic) the backlight does not work and the display is scrambled (see attached image).

The display works if I booting into an old kernel from 13.04 (specifically, 3.8.0-29, which is latest kernel version under 13.04 in which the backlight worked for me - 3.8.0-30 and 3.8.0-31 never worked on my machine).

Even more strange, after rebooting a few times, this has now fixed itself.

I have no idea why!
