Bug Description

My production Sputnik device--which shipped with Ubuntu on it from the factory--had a package pre-installed on it named dell-super-key that deliberately disabled the Super key function in Unity by overriding Unity's default configuration. I suspect this package was part of a rough concept early during development that was discarded and Dell is accidentally shipping (some of?) the production devices with it installed.

At least three other users have also encountered this issue, one of whom ordered his device just this month (see http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/os-applications/f/4613/t/19480686.aspx and the 2013 March 11 comment on http://randomtristan.blogspot.com/2013/01/my-review-of-dell-xps-13-developer.html).

I can't go into the specifics for why, but for now this is intended behavior that this package is installed as is.

Hi!

I had the same problem, I uninstalled the superkey package and it seems to fix it. But aren't there any suggestions for this problem from Dell Sputnik team?

Thanks in advance.

I just got my xps13 sputnik last friday and I had the same problem, but after "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade" the super key worked.
