Bug Description

Ubuntu suggests EnglishUS , however when I go to Keyboard Layouts > Layouts, and then press on the Keyboard symbol I see a key to the left of the 'z' for example, and of course the entire numberpad which doesn't exist on the typical laptop.

If I understand things correctly (this may be slightly simplified), each key press sends a code. The English US map interprets those codes as specific keys. The fact that your keyboard doesn't have some of the keys handled by the English US map doesn't indicate that the mapping is incorrect; it simply implies that your keyboard will never send the codes assigned to the keys it does not have.

Yes thats one issue. Another is that I don't seem to be able to use modifier keys to get things like Euro and Pound symbols. Maybe I need to change the Alt key mapping?
