I'm not familiar with "10 digit WEP key", only 64bit (40 bits of key and 24 bits of initialization) and 128 bit (104 bits of key and 24 bits of initialization). Or is this some sort of passphrase kind of thing?

I found a workaround. I had to disable the proprietary network driver within the administrator>hardware directory. Then I re enabled. Finally I dropped down on the network manual configuration icon in the system tray and changed the WEP key setting from "password" to 128 bit "hexidecimal". It worked finally with my 10 digit router key.
