Bug Description
I think Backup Disks for WD SmartWare like My Book Live use a special protocol to communicate instead of SMB or FTP. Déjà Dup should automatically detect those disks in the network and use them with their special protocol which was designed specially for backups.

I believe you are talking about AFP (Apple Filing Protocol). That is supported these days through GVFS's native support for it. Enter an afp:// url as a storage location and it should work. If I'm wrong about AFP, please re-open and give some more details about the protocol you mean.
