Bug Description

Since my upgrade to oneiric deja-dup keeps asking me for a password while it tries to backup my home dir. I tried the following, but without success:

- Typed in the correct password about 10 times.
- Created a new backup dir with a new password

The backup is on an external volume, my passwords are lower case without special chars.

Maybe this addition helps findig the bug:

Without a password everything works fine.

I tested different storage options also, the problem stays the same as described above.
Deleting the gpg key for backups via seahorse doesn't matter also.

Maybe some dependency got messed up? Crypto lobraries? Architecture failures?

Are you saying that it doesn't accept the password, or that every time you do another backup, it asks for the password again and doesn't remember it?

I would say it is more like not accepting it.

I deleted all old backups and did a new&fresh one. Because it's the first time, it asks me for the password i would like to choose. After that backuping starts for about 5 seconds. Then deja-dup asks again for the password and starts all over again for 5 seconds.. this is the infinite loop. You can see a few files rushing through the details window which are always the same within the 5 seconds. No Backup files are created while doing this loop at all.

It was the same with my old backup dir. So new full backup or old incremental doesn't matter. It must have to do with the password/encryption itself because without encryption the backup process works. (Of course only with the new backup destination which is not encrypted. The old encrypted one is not accessible right now)

The passwords used were as easy as "abcdef" or "abc123", so nothing special there. Deja-dup creates a key in my keyring called "Passwort für die Verschlüsselung der Sicherung" (engl.: Password for the encryption of the backup) with the correct password in it. So storing my password seems to work.

I noticed the same behaviour when trying to backup on an ftp server. No file gets transferred.

Can I have the following info, especially the log file?

1. The distribution of Linux you're using:
    lsb_release -d

2. The version of deja-dup and duplicity:
    (if on Ubuntu or Debian:)
    dpkg-query -W deja-dup duplicity

(if on Fedora or other RPM-based systems:)
    rpm -q deja-dup duplicity

3. The file /tmp/deja-dup.gsettings after running the following line (you may want to scrub the file of any incriminating file names or details):
    gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.DejaDup > /tmp/deja-dup.gsettings

4. The file /tmp/deja-dup.log after running the appropriate line below and replicating the problem (you may want to scrub the log of any incriminating file names or details):
    DEJA_DUP_DEBUG=1 deja-dup --backup | tail -n 1000 > /tmp/deja-dup.log

Changed in deja-dup:

Ah. This looks like bug 681002. I bet you have gnupg2 installed. I need to figure out why that error keeps happening.
