Bug Description
I am currently using Amazon S3 and Déjà-Dup to backup documents on my Ubuntu machine. However, I would like to make use of the cheaper "Reduced Redundancy Storage" or "RRS" option that is available for Amazon S3 buckets.
The standard Amazon S3 storage is currently $0.140 per GB whilst the RRS storage is only $0.093 per GB - so there is a significant amount of money at stake if large backups are being made. It would be useful if there was an option to enable RRS storage in Déjà-Dup so that users can get the best value for money with their Amazon S3 account.
After some searching around, I noticed that this feature has already been implemented in part in this launchpad branch:

It seems a very simple fix to enable RRS for Amazon S3 in Déjà-Dup, although there would have to be an additional checkbox available in the UI too. I was wondering whether there has been any more recent progress on this front and if this code could be merged into the development release sometime soon? I would happily contribute myself but had a look at the code and feel a bit out of my depth - sorry!
I am sure this feature would be appreciated by many people who are increasingly choosing Amazon S3 as a cheap offsite backup solution.
Thanks for an already excellent application!
Jonathan

FYI, I've just tested RRS support on Debian Squeeze with Duplicity 0.6.13-1~bpo60+1 (see: http:// packages. debian. org/squeeze- backports/ duplicity ). It works well thanks to the --s3-use-rrs option.
