I wish I were better at computer-ing. (reporting info here)

I ran Deja this today as part of my weekly backup routine. I did this after power-up and received the above error message, again. I called Deja from the terminal, it ran it's check and then did the backup. No error msg. reported after that. While holding Deja open in the terminal, I ran

1. The file /tmp/deja-dup.log after running the following line and replicating the problem:
    DEJA_DUP_DEBUG=1 deja-dup | tail -n 200 > /tmp/deja-dup.log

2. The file /tmp/deja-dup.gconf after running the following line:
    gconftool-2 --dump /apps/deja-dup > /tmp/deja-dup.gconf

The deja-dup.los is empty? (Hidden characters? - I don't know what or how to post that here)

 The contents of the deja-dup.gconf is as follows:

Thank you for the report! An empty log file?

DEJA_DUP_DEBUG=1 deja-dup | tail -n 200 > /tmp/deja-dup.log

Should really create a /tmp/deja-dup.log... If you do just:

DEJA_DUP_DEBUG=1 deja-dup

do you see any output on the console?

What I so inaptly was trying to say at launchpad is that I ran the
 DEJA_DUP_DEBUG=1 deja-dup | tail -n 200 > /tmp/deja-dup.log
and closed the deja window and then the terminal. Looking at /tmp I saw the deja log.
Now I understand what you are asking me to do.
I opened the terminal, ran deja, saw the deja app on my desktop. Opened places/filesystem/tmp. There I see the deja-dup.log. It is empty, I think. Log file attached and properties shows it as zero byte file.
Let me know what to do, Michael. I'm pleased to try and help.
Also, for your convenience, on Skype I am Mark_in_Hollywood.

I currently experience the same problem with deja-dup (15.3-2.fc14) and duplicity (0.6.09-1.fc13) on Fedora release 13 (Goddard) 64 bit.

Attached is the log from DEJA_DUP_DEBUG=1 deja-dup

Floflooo, I'm guessing this is an extremely poorly worded error message for when the backup destination does not exist. Does the folder "sftp://<email address hidden>/Volumes/Backup/florent" exist?

There is code to make that error message nicer, but it isn't functional yet, because it requires an unreleased version of duplicity.

You're right Michael... for some reason, my backup directory is not there anymore.
Nice to hear that you already have a fix for the obscure error message.
