Please add support of ftp and Web Dav as backup destination. Should not be a big effort because it is supported by duplicity.

Arthur, then make sure to click the '(change)' button next to "This bug doesn't affect me". That's the Launchpad way to say "i want this too". I can order bugs by how many people are affected to decide importance.

Fixed in trunk by allowing the use of GNOME network mounts (gvfs).
