Bug Description

Deja-dup uses gnome-keyring for storing passwords. I use KDE Plasma and would like to use Deja-dup with kwallet instead.

It is a pain to have to install gnome dependencies jut for one application. Chromium, for example, supports both kwallet and gnome-keyring. Gnome-keyring does also not work as well on Plasma on certain distributions, with it sometimes not unlocking the Login keyring on login.

I believe it should be working? We use libsecret, which I thought was desktop env agnostic. That it worked with KDE and gnome.

Well, I have just tried again on a fresh installation of OpenSUSE Leap 15.2 / KDE Plasma 5.19.4 . With Deja-dup versions 40.6 (distribution) and 42.2 (flatpak) neither store the password in KWallet.

Hmm yeah KWallet does not support libsecret.

I’m going to go ahead and mark won't fix - we target GNOME primarily. I don’t want to make users of other desktops’ lives harder for no reason, but I think we are doing the reasonable thing of using a desktop-agnostic interface. KWallet apparently added support in 5.97.0?
