default ignore of .cache is not ignoring

Bug Description
It is my understanding that .cache and .gvfs are by default supposed to be ignored on backups.
When I backup, dejadupe reports that ~/.cache/dconf and ~/.gvfs have not been backed up.
They failed because the owner is ROOT.
So it looks like the default process is not working correctly.
I tried to manually include them in the IGNORE list but the window in which I must select the new files to be ignored will not let me select any files/folders that are preceded by a DOT.
BTW thanks so much for your efforts on a very useful program.

Sorry I can not perform #4. I have torn down that system and used deja dup to set up the new system.
However, the problem described above has persisted on several systems.
