Had this on a fresh Ubuntu 14.04 Daily Image too (2014-02-12):

I had configured the backup settings as normal (to local, freshly formatted EXT4 USB stick), and closed the window -- half an hour later, the error popped up on the screen.

However, if I remove my deja-dup preferences from dconf and delete the .cache/deja-dup directory and try the process on a fresh stick _and_ press "Backup Now" (rather than letting it do it), the backup goes through & works fine.

Both a selected restore (from Nautilus) and a full restore (from Deja Dup, to an empty directory on the host drive) work from both sticks without errors though.

What's the preferred way to provide debug logs to find the problem?
