Bug Description
Suggestion:
When a backup is about to start, show a dialog like "For best backup integrity, please close all open applications before continuing with the backup. To continue with the backup, click the OK button below."
This will encourage the user to save all changes in their applications so that those changes will be included in the backup. It may also prevent needlessly backing up temporary files.
There could be a "Don't remind me again" checkbox in this dialog, as well as an "Advanced" option to re-enable the dialog after "Don't remind" has been selected.
