Bug Description

Hi,
I'm trying to display any of the ui files, but after a press 'display' , a dialog pops up and say "WebSocket not supported, input will not work!".
What's the problem?

Hi,

This is probably caused by your web-browser. Which one do you use?

Deckard is known to work with up-to-date versions of Firefox and Chrome/Chromium.
It should work with the latest Opera (I did not test) but I don't think Internet Explorer support the features required by Deckard yet.

This is strange websocket is enabled by default in Firefox since a long time.

Could try for example this demo?
http://www.websocket.org/echo.html

It works for me (Firefox 21 on Ubuntu 13.04).

Uh-oh, the browser you're using doesn't have native support for WebSocket. That means you can't run this demo.

The following link lists the browsers that support WebSocket:

http://caniuse.com/#feat=websockets

Hmm, maybe you are behind a blocking proxy?

This is my case, so I won't be able to properly test if there is a true problem with Deckard until I'm back home later today.
I will let you know.

Hi again,

Everything is working fine here. So this is probably an issue on your network.
Does the example I quoted you above work now that you enabled websockets in Firefox? Some proxies block Websockets, so this could be your issue.

If this is not that, could you open the web-console in Firefox (Ctrl+shift+k) and then look for any error when you click the display button?

Thanks.

Hi,

This is the output: http://pastebin.com/aJ1ykgVw
(ميلي ثانية = mili second)
(لا يستطيع فَيَرفُكس أن يؤسّس اتصالًا بالخادوم عند = FireFox can't create a connection with the server when) < not write at all :p

I (true)ed every websocket in the about:config page.

Hi,

I get the same message when I'm behind a websocket-blocking proxy (eg. at work), so I'm quite sure this is related to your network.

I'm afraid your only solution in this case is to ask your network administrator to disable websocket filtering.
If this is not possible, you would have to use something like a VPN or ssh redirection in order to access a neutral network.

As this does not seem to be a bug in Deckard, I'm closing this one.
Feel free to reopen it or to create a new one if you think this is relevant.

I'm sorry that I couldn't help you more.

Cheers,
Nicolas
