visualvm doesn't work with java9

oracle-java9-installer and oracle-java9-set-default are installed. I try to start visualvm and it gives some warnings.. shows the splash screen for a few seconds, and then exits back to the terminal with no error messages.

Thanks for taking your time to report this and help making Ubuntu better.

I found a corresponding bug report in Debian, so I have attached a bug watch and am marking it as confirmed.

Looks like this is fixed now. The version in the Debian bug report got added to Ubuntu 18.04 in an update. I just tested with visualvm 1.4.2-2~18.04.1 and Java11 which starts without issues and seems to work as expected.
