These types of errors are typically due to a bug that occurs earlier - sometimes during the previous launch of the application - and checks for a null installLocation ends up covering up the actual bug. Could you zip up and email me your profile's extensions directory along with the extensions.cache, extensions.ini, and extensions.rdf from your profile?
