Bug Description

Binary package hint: sendmail

When installing sendmail (and the required sendmail-*) , several errors pop up.

The summary:

Errors in generating sendmail.cf
*** ERROR: FEATURE() should be before MAILER()
*** MAILER(`local') must appear after FEATURE(`always_add_domain')*** ERROR: FEATURE() should be before MAILER()
*** MAILER(`local') must appear after FEATURE(`allmasquerade')*** ERROR: FEATURE() should be before MAILER()

I'm using sendmail 8.14.1-8ubuntu1 on gutsy amd64

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10?

Yes, I still see the errors.

I think the problem is in the order of instructions in the file debian/cf/debian/sendmail.mc.in.

Possible solution:

I noticed the "Masquerading options" block in sendmail.mc is placed _after_ "Default mailer setup". I moved the default mailer setup block to the end of the file. This cleared all sendmailconfigs error messages.
