Gnome GUI not working

Binary package hint: r-base-core

I've installed R
sudo apt-get install r-base-core

When I try to run it with the Gnome GUI ("R -g gnome") I get:

R -g gnome
/usr/bin/R: line 182: /usr/lib/R/bin/exec/Rgnome: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/R: line 182: exec: /usr/lib/R/bin/exec/Rgnome: cannot execute: No such file or directory

Dear Charles,

thanks for your response. I have looked at them following your
suggestion. But, what shoud I do? I searched for a package (used R -g
tk) called gnomeGUI and did not find it in the list.

I do not know if there is a graphical user interface for installing CRAN
modules on linux. However, there is a universal procedure in command
line which is described in:

http://cran.r-project.org/doc/FAQ/R-FAQ.html#How-can-add_002don-packages-be-installed_003f

To locate the gnomeGUI module, you can use the search engine on the CRAN
homepage:

http://cran.r-project.org/search.html
