Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?

I get a lot of windows signaling an error on a just installed and upgraded Jaunty.
Apparently everything works, but in fact when I try to add one more machine, it is not added (and I get the error window).

Found a resolution for this over on a Debian site. Seems something wacky going on with accessing the Home Folder:

Went into '~/.qemulator/config
modified the 'mainsettings' and set the 'imagespath' to 'qemu' sub-directory:

p14
sS'imagespath'
p15
S'/home/username/qemu'

I now get Control monitor appearing every time, and the main qemulator window doesn't hang.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

I can confirm this bug in Ubuntu 10.04, to check it out, you only need to:

1-Open qemulator
2.-Start an instance
3.- Go to the "Running jobs" tab
4.- Right click on "control monitor"

I've added the remote bug report (debian), I've tested the latest package:

http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/q/qemulator/qemulator_0.5-4.dsc

$ dget -xu http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/q/qemulator/qemulator_0.5-4.dsc
$ cd qemulator-0.5/
$ debuild -us -uc
$ sudo dpkg -i ../qemulator_0.5-4_all.deb

And it looks to me like it fixes the issues, this is its changelog:

qemulator (0.5-4) unstable; urgency=low

  * added debian/patches/python2.5_fixes.patch, to fix some tracebacks and some
    problems that are amplified with python 2.5 and that result in many
    disfunctions running qemulator. (Closes: #438894, #498015, #522089, #453514)
  * debian/control: fixedcapitalization of Python word.
  * debian/copyright: cnaged copyright symbol from (C) to ©, and removed some
    spaces from the end of lines.
  * debian/control: bump Standards-Version to 3.8.1, no changes needed.
  * debina/control: added ${misc:Depends} to dependencie field to avoid
     lintian warning.
  * debian/control: move imagemagick from Build-Depens to Build-Depends-Indep.
  * debian/control: moved homepage to the appropriate fied.
  * added debian/patches/desktopfile_fix.patch to remove deprecated encoding
    field.
  * debian/watch: updated.
