Bug Description

Binary package hint: global

Just for fun I decided to run gtags on a code base of less than a million line of code and it failed. It seems this package is worthless as currently released.

I have the same problem when running gtags -f with a file list containing just a single C file entry.

The version of gtags in the Ubuntu global package is 5.7.1, as shown by "gtags --version".

I downloaded and built the TOT version of gtags (which is 5.9) from here: http://www.gnu.org/software/global/download.html.

It does not show this problem, so that is a workaround for you.

Thanks Jerre, but do you know when we will be able to get this fix automatically via Update Manager?

Sorry, CB, I don't. I don't know how often non-kernel binaries are synced
into the Ubuntu distribution.

C'mon maintainers, this long standing bug only exists in the ancient 5.7.1 version on ubuntu. It is fixed in modern global, e.g. 6.2.8 which I have installed from source. Surely it is time for an update on ubuntu?
