Bug Description

Binary package hint: gcj-4.2

After installing package libgcj-doc and compiling to bytecode with either the AWT or Swing examples (in /usr/share/doc/gcj-4.2-base/examples) with gcj, execution with gij hangs after creating the first main window. Nothing is printed in the console.

Execution of the same bytecodes with Sun's java works OK.

I noticed this after trying to write a very simple JFrame which refused to respond to any WindowEvents, so I installed the gnu examples from libgcj-doc so I could examine the source code and see what I was doing wrong - however the gnu examples behaved similarly by freezing and not responding to window events.

Would love to test, but don't know how! Do I just grab icedtea from the repositories, or do I have to manually install a modified version?

Grabbed icedtea from the repositories and confirm it compiles and runs the AWT/Swing examples OK.
