Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

Distribution: Jaunty
Evolution version: 2.26.1

Debian upstream related bug:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=531437

I use IMAP for connection to my email server.

When Evolution is fetching my new mail I get an error message saying in German:

Fehler bei »Ordner wird aufgefrischt«.
Offline-Journal für Ordner »INBOX« konnte nicht geschrieben werden: Success

which translates to:

Error while Refreshing folder.
Cannot write offline journal for folder 'INBOX': Success

Actually Evolution succeeds to fetch my new mails but I experience two problems:

1. I cannot move Emails from one folder to another inside my mail account
2. When closing Evolution it is taking a loooooong time

Deactivated all Offline feature for every folder and account, still Evolution will not stop bugging me with above error messages and problems.

In above mentioned Debian bug report the workaround is to delete the Evolution folder and restart again.

Starting evolution from a terminal I will get this output:
** (evolution:6640): DEBUG: mailto URL command: evolution %s
** (evolution:6640): DEBUG: mailto URL program: evolution
** (evolution:6640): DEBUG: EI: SHELL STARTUP

The GNOME bugreport is mentionind Evolution version 2.24 and is quite old.

Anyway, my problem existed for only one of my two IMAP accounts I am using in evolution. After "evolution --force-shutdown", deleting all the mails in .evolution/mail/imap/<AFFECTED_ACCOUNT> and restarting evolution again the problem seems to have vanished.

I still do not know what has caused the issue. Eventually I will find out how to reproduce this.

I used to have the behavior as described.
It went away after I deleted the files as described.
But now I have it back again after some months.
Just deleted the mails again being curious for how long it will last.

My evolution was updated with ubuntu 8.04 -> 8.10 -> 9.04 -> 9.10
Nothing changed in the folder structure of my IMAP account since it was first set up.

I had the same problem using Evolution 3.2.3.

Solved the problem by deleting the affected file in dir .local/share/evolution/mail/<..>@loginname/<FILE>.
