Bug Description

Please sync cl-utilities from Debian.

Looks like this package was removed from Ubuntu (and Debian) in the past (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cl-utilities/+publishinghistory), but a new version was recently packaged.

This is a new build dependency for pgloader which is currently failing to build in Xenial since this package is missing.

Changelog:

cl-utilities (1.2.4-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Quicklisp release update.

Synced, it is sitting in NEW queue: <https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/xenial/+queue>.

I am not sure if it will be accepted because an upload with the same version already existed in Ubuntu: <https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cl-utilities/1.2.4-1>. But that was long time ago, so who knows…

As I suspected, it got rejected. So this should be not a sync, but rather a real upload to archive with tweaked version number. If we make the version number larger than Debian's, we won't get the subsequent uploads auto-synced. Maybe you can talk to the new Debian maintainer if he can bump the version?

Thanks Dmitry. I have to admit, I hadn't looked too close at the version numbers before you mentioned it so I didn't expect this.

I've sent a request to the Debian maintainer now.

This package was previously in Debian with a higher version number, which was where Ubuntu got it. There are two problems with the current package in Debian:

 - it has reused a Debian version number that was previously used in Debian with different contents.
 - it has reused an *upstream* orig.tar.gz filename that was previously used in Debian with different contents.

Both of these bugs are issues that should be fixed in Debian. While they haven't prevented the package from being reintroduced into Debian unstable, they will cause problems for release archival in Debian in the same way that they prevent the package's importing into Ubuntu.

To fix the second issue, the package probably needs to be switched to source format 3.0 (quilt) and use a different compression format for the orig.tar, in order to avoid the filename collision.

Looks like 1.2.4-3.1 made it into 16.04 and also resolved the ftbfs issue for pgloader.

Thanks, Steve :)
