Bug Description

Perhaps this is more of a "request" or "annoyance" rather than a "bug," but the bandwidthcalc package does not include a .desktop entry in /usr/share/applications and as a result is not very "discoverable" once installed. I can "Alt + F2" or run in terminal "bandwidthcalc," but I would expect a graphical utility (espeically one installed from Ubuntu Software Center) to be easy to find post install.

The source package has an SVG that might make for a good candidate for an icon:

bandwidthcalc-0.2/pixmaps/speedo.svg

The bandwidthcalc package itself only installs a 32x32 xpm and not the svg.

Attached is a possible minimal .desktop file (without icon).

I thought about contacting the original developer, but the link provied in the application's "about" dialog is broken (http://www.debiaan.de/~chris/).

Thanks for your work. I took the liberty to forward your bug to the Debian maintainer of the software - We in Ubuntu take most of our software directly from Debian, without changes and in my opinion it's not worth it to diverge from Debian for a desktop file.
