daily cron email with apt-cacher-cleanup.pl flock errors

If apt-cacher has been installed but not yet configured or run (AUTOSTART=0 in /etc/defaults/apt-cacher), a daily email is sent to root looking like this:

Subject: Anacron job 'cron.daily' on tj
/etc/cron.daily/apt-cacher:
flock() on closed filehandle $lck at /usr/share/apt-cacher/apt-cacher-cleanup.pl line 121.
flock() on closed filehandle $lck at /usr/share/apt-cacher/apt-cacher-cleanup.pl line 123.

It is trying to lock the non-existent file /var/cache/apt-cacher/private/exlock

There is better error handling code around a similar flock statement in /usr/share/apt-cacher/apt-cacher-lib.pl
sub set_global_lock

Oh yeah - I'm using gutsy and apt-cacher 1.5.3

Have you tried apt-cacher-ng?

I still have Ubuntu gutsy, but some updatee (= I don't know which one) removed the preblem.
