Thank you for reporting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

I see the '&' characters are still present in these labels in alsoft-conf version 1.4.3-1 on Ubuntu Raring. Likely this is the character used to mark the shortcut key to the table, allowing users to use alt+<shortcut key> to navigate to it (like alt+g for "General"). Though in these cases, the labels does not seem to have been marked correctly.

It would appear I've fixed this bug after a couple of days of learning to use Qt Creator & Designer. The three labels were not linked to their respective controls, preventing the shorcut keys from working and causing the ampersand (&) to appear in the UI. Patches attached address the following:

main.ui diff:
Window title changed from "oalsoft" to "OpenAL Soft Configuration Utility"
Adjusted the size of the "Frequency" box to avoid obscuring the value
Connect each Qlabel's "buddy" to it's respective QObject

speaker.h diff:
Fix a warning about Q_INTERFACES missing QGraphicsItem

This patch repairs the broken keyboard accelerators on the first tab, adds a user-friendly window tile, and slightly resizes the "Frequency" text box.

This patch fixes a minor warning:

../alsoft-conf-1.4.3/src/speaker.h:49: Warning: Class SpeakerItem implements the interface QGraphicsItem but does not list it in Q_INTERFACES. qobject_cast to QGraphicsItem will not work!

Just verified that this is indeed fixed in alsoft-conf 1.4.3-2 on Ubuntu 17.10.

If you need a fix for the bug in previous versions of Ubuntu, please perform as much as possible of the SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's attention.
