I see the '&' characters are still present in these labels in alsoft-conf version 1.4.3-1 on Ubuntu Raring. Likely this is the character used to mark the shortcut key to the table, allowing users to use alt+<shortcut key> to navigate to it (like alt+g for "General"). Though in these cases, the labels does not seem to have been marked correctly.
