Bug Description

I am sharing a windows network printer (Epson DX4850) installed via Samba which prints fine from the test print and open office but will not print a screenshot or pdf file.

The printer troubleshooter reports Printer state message is /usr/lib/cups/filter/pdftoraster failed.

Going through the printer diagnostics, the test page still prints OK and no suggestion for the failure is stated.

Can anyone suggest a remedy please.

Upon googling the report it seems that this is a known bug in Debian http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=584942

I solved it by installing another printer driver. Is in
repositories. You can install directly from mintInstall. The name of
package is "foomatic". When you have it installed, you open printer options
and change printer driver. You'll see two "foomatic", the simplified and
complete, either works.
