Hi all,

it's been kind of quiet around here for some months. Anyway, is anybody still
interested in maintaining that package or looking for help or a co-maintainer? I
could also sponsor that package... say in two months, when my Debian account is
created, since I don't want to guess how long it'll take until my application is
accepted (or rejected...)
Unfortunately, the old page mentioned some posts earlier is down, and I only
downloaded the binary packages from there. So much for not duplicating work.

greetings

Torsten

Never, never do plans in that front. No warranty can be placed there, so
stop doing it.

Hi!

Are you still interested in packaging python-nltk? Your ITP is pretty
old and nothing appeared in the archive yet. There is some discussion
in this bug report but I didn't find any conclusion.

I'm asking because a non-DD asked me to sponsor his python-nltk
package. He is very python knowledgable and uses NLTK actively for
teaching purposes. I think he would be a good maintainer for the
package.

Please tell me if you're still working on the package or if it's ok
for us to take it over.

Cheers

Hello,

This is an automatic mail sent to close the ITP you have reported or
are involved with.

Your ITP wnpp bug is being closed because of the following reasons:
- It is, as of today, older than 365 days.
- It hasn't had any activity recently.

As this is an automatic procedure, it could of course have something
wrong and probably it would be closing some bugs that are not
intended by owners and submitters (like you) to be closed, for
example if the ITP is still of your interest, or there has been
some kind of activity around it. In that case, please reopen the
bug, do it, DO IT NOW! (I don't want to be blamed because of
mass closing and not let people know that they can easily reopen
their bugs ;-).

To re-open it, you simply have to mail <email address hidden>
with a body text like this:

 reopen 279422
 stop

Further comments on the work done in the bug sent to
<email address hidden> would be truly welcomed.
Anyway, if you have any kind of problems when dealing with
the BTS, feel free to contact me and I'd be more than happy to help
you on this: <email address hidden>.

A similar process is being applied to other kind of wnpp bugs.

Thanks for your cooperation,

An upload of NLTK 0.9.9 is on its way to experimental.

As a part of the managing needs-packaging bug reports specification, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Specs/NeedsPackagingBugs, all needs-packaging bug reports have Wishlist importance. I've been independently working on packaging NLTK, and was just about to create a needs-packaging bug when I found this one.

It looks like my package has a bit more work done on it than the one that odd-rationale has uploaded (e.g., I went through and identified several potential legal problems in the debian/copyright file) -- should I upload my version to REVU as well? With what version?

By the way, I've contacted upstream regarding the possible legal problems, and they've fixed the problems in SVN, with a 2.0b8 release expected sometime this week. So 2.0b7 should probably not be accepted yet.

Hi,

It's been eight months since http://bugs.debian.org/279422 last had
any activity other than a "what's the status of this?" question. Are
you still working on this?

I noticed that the package in
http://svn.debian.org/viewsvn/python-modules/packages/python-nltk/trunk/
is for NLTK 0.9.9. That's quite far behind the current NLTK version of
2.0b8. I've been working on a python-nltk package of 2.0b8 for Ubuntu,
which is currently awaiting review at
http://revu.ubuntuwire.com/p/python-nltk -- if you like, you'd be
welcome to copy my work. Or if you're no longer interested packaging
python-nltk in Debian, let me know and I'd be happy to take over the
work on http://bugs.debian.org/279422.

Hi Robin,

I am no longer working on the package, I tried uploading it back in
May but it got rejected because the license/copyright holders of some
of the files was not clear.

Some of the problematic files:

- ----

what is the license for nltk/app/nemo_app.py, nltk/mis/chomsky.py
nltk/mis/babelfish.py?
what is the license for nltk/mis/chomsky.py?

The licnse for nltk/decorators.py is missing from debian/copyright.

ntlk/etree copyright is noted but seems to me to carry a different
license (see __init__.py).

nltk/test/coverage.py has a license not mentioned in debian/copyright

- ----

Feel free to take over the bug.

Cheers,
Jeremy
