Bug Description

[needs-packaging] Megatunix

Megatunix is an Engine Control Unit tuning application for which I have not found a debian package. It looks as if it is the only program of it's kind available for Linux. It needs to be packaged.

URL: http://megatunix.sourceforge.net/
License: GNU General Public License
Notes: I was unable to compile it.

Hi,

You're having compilation error, because of gcc4.3.
You should add #include <string.h> and #include <cstdlib> in src/thermistor.cpp

I've been able to package and compile it in a quick and dirty mode. I have to make it clean before uploading it to revu for review.

Contacted upstream in regards to the current state of the user documentation for inclusion in the man pages, so far upstream has been unresponsive. Seeing as we are in feature freeze at the moment I don't see any problem in allowing upstream more time to respond before putting the final touches to this package, therefore this package will not be finished this weekend, Like I said though, we are in feature freeze so it doesn't really make a difference.

I have MegaTunix packaged with working debs for the stable and testing branches of it's current CVS.

I've tested (and am using it) on hardy & intrepid.

I'm in the process of setting up a ppa for this unless there is a reason not to.

Thanks,

Alan

Alan, sounds good to me, I just haven't had the time to finish it myself due to University and internships etc. I really wanted to do it but if you've already done it then that's great. I'll un-assign myself from this request.

Hello Craig,

You can still package formally if you want. :-) I was not aware you had taken this on, and did it a while ago as I needed it for some work I was doing.

The author has already incorporated my packaging into his builds. Debs are available on the sourceforge site from release 0.9.18 on:

< http://megatunix.sourceforge.net >

I'm maintaining an Informal repository:

deb http://pinztrek.com/repository/ stable main
deb http://pinztrek.com/repository/ testing main

Testing has the new release code until it has been out for 2-3 week, then it moves to stable. From there I keep periodic builds of the latest cvs code in testing for experimenters.

I also have some megatunix ubuntu & ubuntu mini-remix livecd's rolled that some are using. (desktop full, xubuntu, and a mini/icewm version)

Have fun,

Alan
