Keyboard layout switches when special chars entered into the chat

If you have multiple keyboard layouts installed then you enter some particular characters to the chat, then you click inside the chat _anywhere_ after that special thing, your keyboard layout switches to English.

To reproduce:
1) First you have multiple layouts installed
2) Enter some arabic text to the chat like this: Az arab nyelv (العربية al-ʿarabijja; kevésbé formálisan: عربي ʿarabi)
3) Enter something else to the chat too
4) Click inside the chat. Make sure you click _after_ the arabic text
5) Your layout switches

This happens not only with arabic text, but it's the easiest to reproduce with. eMTee found this related thread with a possible solution:
