Bug Description

http://i.imgur.com/7k9SOyl.jpg says "einwachsenden gibbous" for "moon phase" ... that roughly translates to "ingrown hunch" if you try to decypher it ... it is half german and half english and rather total nonsense :)

this is on arale rc-proposed up to date image (OTA6 candidate) at the time of writing this report ...

Please search in your system where this string comes from. (you can use grep for searching)

i dont think the part showing the date is actually the today scope itself, isnt that bit aggregated from somewhere ?

i added "zunehmender Dreiviertelmond" and "abnehmender Dreiviertelmond" to the translation suggestions there, which seems to be the proper wording.

Oliver's translation suggestions are appropriate.

I want to add that the hilariously wrong translation "einwachsenden gibbous Mond" (for the English term "waxing gibbous moon") seems to be taken directly from Google translator:
https://www.google.de/search?q=waxing+gibbous+moon+deutsch

Google translator can generally not expected to be a good choice for translating application strings. I cannot imagine that this is common practice in Ubuntu translations?

also I might add that even if the translation is fixed, it won't work on 40gu devices (Aquaris E4.5 for exmples)

This is how it looks like atm: http://i.imgur.com/uoaC4M9.jpg

wrt the screenshot ... i really wish my brain would not expand it with "Zehennägel" all the time :( ...

@ogra: Haha, so true. Same here. It really highlights we should fix that asap. That's not something you want to have on the very first screen when you turn on your new Ubuntu phone for the first time.

Apparently it is not only german but also spanish. Original strings seems to have been translated with google translate. Some languages have already been fixes/reviewed by the relevant translator teams but not others.

I added the Today-scope last weekend for the first time and Indeed, I first read virtual "Zehennägel". Oliver's Suggestions in Post #4 reviewed. Corrected some other German strings too.

I don't see the updated translations on latest rc-proposed and it still has Day 1.2 while the fix is on 1.2.1. Reverting status.

@jibel: Fix committed only means that the fix is in the repository. Fix released is when you should see it in the images within the next few days. ;)

@Nicklas, for the project canonical-devices-system-image the definition is slightly different:
- 'Fix Committed' is when the fix is in the archive and you should see it on next rc-proposed build.
- 'Fix Released' is when the image is released to stable (an OTA with the fix is available in a stable channel)

@ogra, arale channel has been reverted to OTA-9 for Turbo's image preparation. Once it's out we'll start building new OTA-10 tarball immediately.

well, i'm on rc-proposed, not on stable ... so i thought the fix would have landed in there ...
(sadly that bug is only showing once a month for a few days so i'm cautious if it got set to fix committed and it still shows on my phone, sorry for the noise)
