Bug Description
MAAS 2.6 surfaces messages from the event log on the machine listing page. This allows users to see what action a node is taking at a glance. I deployed a VMware ESXi image with MAAS 2.6. The VMware ESXi image is a DD, we support minimal storage configuration options which are applied as a first boot script, outside of Curtin.
Curtin reports to MAAS that it is configuring storage for the entire time the DD is being written to disk. The 'installing OS' messages are barely visible since nothing happens in that stage. Curtin should consider applying a DD the installation part, not configuring storage.
