The curtin log show this version:

Released curtins should look like:

'0.1.0~bzr470-0ubuntu1~16.04.1'

Also, what release is being deployed and in which ephemeral environment?

This is on 16.04 and this is latest trunk inside the MAAS snap. We pull the latest python package from the curtin bzr branch, that is probably why the version is not reported correctly.

I've added a vmtest with the configuration you provided, but we're not able
to recreate. Can we get access to the system in the failed state?
