Bug Description

I have the following server configured to autoconnect on startup using ssl and get the following error

Server: irc.cyanide-x.net/9000
  - Auto Connect to this network at startup
  - Use SSL for all the servers on this network
  - Accept invalid SSL certificates

Error:
* Connecting to irc.cynanide-x.net (67.215.65.132) port 9000...
* Connection failed. Error: (336130315) error:1408F10B:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:wrong version number
 Are you sure this is a SSL capable server and port?

If I connect manually using the following, then it works:
/server -ssl irc.cyanide-x.net 9000

* Looking up irc.cyanide-x.net
* Connecting to irc.cyanide-x.net (37.247.55.240) port 9000...
* * Subject: /OU=Domain Control Validated/OU=PositiveSSL/CN=irc.cyanide-x.net

I'm told the ssl works on MIRC, and I know this configuration work on xchat about a year and a half ago, so is this a server configuration issue, or xchat?

i have the impression that Ubuntu does not have the Comodo CA certificates inside the /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt

I got a certificate from Comodo and installed it on my personal website and new curl fails to verify my certificate:

curl -v https://sbarnea.com

Same command works fine on OS X, and the certificate validates on all browsers.

no longer affects: xchat
