Bug Description

Unless I've totally missed it, we have not yet set up media-sponsorship packages with friendly press outlets. We should do that as soon as possible and arrange to use the traded advertising to promote the pledgie / donation campaign.

No problem. A list of people who have helped us out in the past:
LWN
Linux Magazine / Ubuntu User
Linux Journal
LXer
Will look into:
Linux Format
OpenDesktop
Linux.com
OStatic
OSNews
deviantArt

Other ideas/suggestions? Design sites & blogs especially, since they'd be dual-purpose: helping the campaign & raising artist-designer awareness....

Hi Jon and Nate,

Just a short update on the website side.

We are currently working on having (and giving you guys) full access to the
LGM website (the Wordpress one that will be connected — unless we find this
clumsy as well — to the actual site). Working with Celine is great and WP is
easy. We're going to be able to connect more people together in shorter
time. And Peter Linnell is giving a strong hand. We'll get things done the
right way in a few days now. I will meet Ceine on the week-end so we can
polish things up.

Cheers!

Louis

Update::: ad specs for the first three are in:

LPM: Banner 468 x 60
LPM: Skyscraper 160 x 600
--
LJ: Banner 728x90
--
Text ads for LWN:
Title field: 48 characters
Body field: 120 characters

In all three, we can link to an URL (which in the text ad does not count against our character limit); we'll use the Pledgie URL.

We need artwork for the first three layouts; we should try to use the same design motifs for all to maximize exposure. Still waiting on hearing from the next batch, but we should be able to launch all of these THIS week, giving us a good 30-day run in which to make a campaign blitz. Hitting the list for ad concepts next....

Hey Celine; great work! Thanks for these!

One question: the small landscape banner (468x60) is the only one of the three that doesn't mention what the donations do. Do you think we could alter the wording on the right side, so it touches on either the travel or the "keep it free"?

Not a lot of room, I know.... But maybe "Keep LGM free! Donate!" would work in that small size?

Heya, this is done right? Or, we need to put something up on the pledgie campaign? Seems like these are separate issues, right?

? Thought I replied to this already. That was almost certainly 2 or 3 years ago, when I worked for SF. I no longer know anybody at the company (including the entire "community office" which got the axe, and the contacts I had in sales). On the other hand, they don't run any news sites anymore since they spun off Linux.com to the Linux Foundation. BUT, I have talked to the LF people, and it sounds like they're interested in doing an ad deal (got an update this afternoon).
