Cover.jpeg isn’t detected in “other” folders

Cover Thumbnailer

Bug Description

If ‘Enable Cover Thumbnailer for other folders’ is checked, thumbnails are not always generated for folders not inside Music or Pictures. Specifically, although you get a thumbnail for a folder with ‘Cover.jpg’, it won’t work if the filename is ‘Cover.jpeg’.

Steps to reproduce:
  1. Create a folder on your desktop (or anywhere other than Music or Pictures).
  2. Add an image named ‘Cover.jpeg’ in that folder.
  3. Refresh.
Expected result: The new folder uses Cover.jpeg for its thumbnail.
Actual result: The new folder has a standard folder icon.

Wokaround: Rename ‘Cover.jpeg’ to ‘Cover.jpg’.

You are right, Cover.jpeg is not in the list of covers files ( ).

Quick fix:
Edit as root the file /usr/bin/cover-thumbnailer and add this filename to the list (line 70).

This bug will be fixed in the next release (v0.9)

Thanks for your report :)

Thanks! Don’t forget to make sure that that entire list there has ‘.jpeg’ versions of each filename.
