Bug Description

I've searched Google and the Compiz forums regarding this, but unfortunately have failed to find the answer. I attempted to discuss the issue on the Compiz mailing list, the forums, and the Compiz bug tracker, but unfortunately due to login and posting failures on the forum and mailing list and the tracker being down was unable to do so. Apologies if I've accordingly missed something obvious.

Compiz runs (for the most part) fine on my system. However, during rotation of the cube, instead of the background being completely
filled with the skydome image, the skydome image takes a hyperbolic shape (see attached screenshot). Disabling the skydome results in a uniform black background as expected. This is reproduced on every reboot and simply by enabling the skydome. On this system, I've never had a normal-looking skydome. Additionally, when windows are present and I rotate the skydome, the windows "streak" across the background unless another window crosses the streak, which wipes it away (see second attached screenshot).

Problems are reproduced with every cube rotation and persist after rebooting. After discussing the issue on the #compiz IRC channel, we concluded that the problem was not related to cube reflection (which is not enabled) or the image resolution (which is under MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE).

Any thoughts on why this is happening or how to fix it?

Confirming that this is resolved in Compiz 0.9.12.2. After upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS (xenial), I haven't had any issues. Thanks!
