hangouts extension animation freezes compiz

Ubuntu 14.04 64bit. GTX 770, Google Chrome latest version. Override software rendering list flag enabled.

At first I though it's just the animation that's slow and it's a Chrome issue (possibly related to window resizing). BUT I discovered that it affects the whole screen. The whole screen chops with the animation. Try playing a video and mouse-over the plugin.
