Ring switcher does not show window titles

Bug Description
Ubuntu 14.04 + MATE 1.8.1 + Compiz 0.9.11.2
I've enabled the Ring Switcher to be my main alt+tab helper, but it ignores the "display window title" option. It's enabled and I've fiddled with positions, size and colors, to no avail - it does not appear in the screen.
Is there anything else I could add here to help debugging this? I'm new to finding issues in Compiz.

You need to also enable the Text plugin in Compiz config. Then the title is displayed with no problem
