Bug Description

Compiz crashed few times today when I switched to another open Firefox instance.

$ dmesg confirms this:

[81052.782494] compiz[2314]: segfault at 48 ip 00007fa13cc46840 sp 00007fffbce89848 error 4 in libscale.so[7fa13cc35000+27000]

Hope you can look into this to make Ubuntu 14 more stable!

This bug is really simple to reproduce: just click on a window group in the launcher.

Please let me know if you need anything else.

I was having the same issue that Kenjiru described. I was able to fix this issue by using Unity Tweak. In Unity Tweak, I opened the "Windows Spread" tab, and clicked "Restore Defaults". The problem went away after that.

Happened twice in a row.
Compiz crashed, I relogged in my session, restored my firefox session, and compiz crashed again.

It affects me as well, every time I use Unity's "windows spread".

Ubuntu 16.04 journalctl reports this segfault:

kernel: compiz[3905]: segfault at 48 ip 00007f3d92a0fcf0 sp 00007ffd63f58628 error 4 in libscale.so[7f3d929fd000+25000]

Hardware: intel HD630 graphics and two monitors (a 1920x1080 one on the HDMI port and a 1440x900 one on the VGA port); compiz only segfaults when both are connected.
