Bug Description
Often, after 20-30+ minutes into playing a video, the desktop freezes. (Witnessed using VLC, SMPlayer and watching HTML5 video, so probably all hw-accelerated vid.) When this happens, the cursor can usually be moved but not always; the sound sometimes continues playing normally. As no keyboard input is possible, only a hard reset recovers from it.
It does not seem to happen under other desktops/WM's so my best guess it is a Unity/Compiz issue on my box.
This is a clean install of Ubuntu 14.04 (amd64), on a Radeon card (RV635) with the default OSS driver.
How can I provide additional info?

compiz seems a better match (instead of unity)
